Background Checks: Business Owners please read!

If you're an employer you know how important it is to run a background investigation on potential employees. All business should, depending on the job description, check for criminal records, including sexual offenses, driving records, bankruptcies, liens and judgments, and past employment history and education before hiring someone.

Could your business, for example, afford to lose 20,30,40K (or more) to an embezzling employee?

Could you afford to wait for your money if they don’t have it anymore?

As a business owner you need to hire the best employees you can.

Background checks and pre-employment screening can save you THOUSANDS!

A pre-employment background check should verify the accuracy and completeness of information that applicants provide on their application, and during their interview sessions. It may identify evidence of previous problems of a select nature. Patterns of past behavior are often a reasonable predictor of future behavior. The background check may also provide evidence of positive traits to assure that the best candidate for the job is identified and hired. It is essential that you identify applicants who are not employable, or those who may be employable, but under conditions of closer supervision.

Would you like to know...
  • Bookkeeper and office staff

    • That they embezzled at their last job but worked out a “deal” that if they paid it back they would receive a good reference?
    • That they were convicted of theft?
    • That they were financially strapped and bankruptcy was looming?

  • Delivery Driver

    • That the new driver you hired really has a valid license?
    • Would it be nice to know that his/her driving record?
    • That they work another job all night and may be fatigued driving for you?
    • That they are collecting workers compensation from the last job they were hurt at?
  • Production Worker, Salesperson and Custodial Staff

    • That the reason they left their last job was employee theft?
    • That they were problem employees and their previous boss gave them a good recommendation just to get rid of them?
    • That they have physical problems that they didn’t tell you about?

 There’s more but you get the point. ALL businesses need information to make good decisions. The information that you get might not necessarily keep you from hiring someone but wouldn’t it be nice to at least be aware of the tendency so you can keep the problem from ever developing?

Credit Risk Assessment

 All businesses extend credit to stocking customers. Before extending credit do you really check references, or check to see if they’re worthy of your trust?

Can you afford to:

  • Extend high credit to someone that doesn’t pay his or her bills or that you have to chase for payment?

  • Provide products to a business that needs to sell your stock before they pay you?

  • Extend credit to a business on the brink of bankruptcy that is selling all its assets to pay creditors (maybe even selling your credit-extended goods before you get paid)?

What we do:

 We provide different “Levels” of pre-employment investigations depending on the businesses “risk” factors. The business selects the level (extensiveness) of the investigation and depending on your requirements, a background check may include any or all of the following:

* Criminal history
* Driving history
* Previous employment verification
* Credit history
* Personal references check
* Address verification

* Education verification
* Worker’s compensation report
* Professional license verification
* Resume verification
* Interviews with neighbors, family, and friends
* Any “special” check that the job “risk” dictates
